My philosophy of teaching and training

I teach and train with the learners’ needs and learning outcomes as priorities. I believe the desired outcome of teaching and training are change, impact and empowerment. On each occasion, I ask myself to what extent I expect the learners to act differently, embrace a different mindset or feel empowered after the session I lead. In educational terms, I see learning as greatly linked to meaning making.

Demonstrating excellence in teaching and training requires ongoing investment in one’s development as an educator. I embody this belief by making time for informal and formal development activities, including but not limited to professional learning networks (PLN), professional certifications, videos, live or archived webinars, and books. I also make time to reflect on my learning. Ultimately, this commitment to continuous learning benefits both learners and educator. They will thrive and fulfil their potential like a flowering plant and a flourishing tree.
